Autism Unit

Autism has become a main field of interest for Princess Basma Centre due to the rising number of children with ASD “Autism Spectrum Disorder” in Palestine. So, in 2011 the centre established an Autism Unit with funds from the EU through Diakonia / Middle East-North Africa Office.

The autism unit in the centre aims at educating and treating children with ASD, it contains a classroom and a “snoezelen” sensory room; an especially designed environment that enables children with ASD and other special needs to enjoy a wide range of sensory experiences for therapeutic, learning, stimulative and relaxing purposes. Since 2011, Princess Basma Centre has become one of  the pioneering rehabilitation centres in autism treatment among the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza institutions.
