Our new distance-learning program empowers families in the West Bank

During this time of shared global sadness when we are isolated from one another in so many ways, we remember Anas and his mother. Living on the West Bank, families such as these can no longer travel to us at the Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre for treatment, so instead we are ‘going’ to them!

Our therapists from the Child Rehabilitation Centre are now using video-conferencing to continue the important work of empowering Palestinian mothers. We are providing therapies for their children in their homes, advice on how to protect their families from COVID-19 and offering hope to transcend these troubled times.

Raja’a, an occupational therapist at JPBC, explains,

“Before each online session, we provide the mother with guidance and instructions. We set a goal for each session in partnership with the mother.”

On April 2, Anas with his mother at home, took part in an online session with Raja’a. His mother said,

“Now I’m able to help my child to move forward to achieve his best. The home plan has helped me a lot to understand my son’s needs and empowered me with the knowledge of how I can implement these activities. I’m so proud of myself and my son. And I know I have even more power and strength to continue on this path to the end.”
