Comprehensive Rehabilitation With Integrated Hearing Assessment for Children with Disabilities

A Supportive Environment for Children with Disabilities

Since the age of six months, Farah has been attending the Jerusalem Princess Basma Centre, where she has flourished under their care. Now at the age of five, she shows confidence and displays impressive skills such as walking and running, and she fills the Centre with joy and happiness. Farah's mother is grateful for the center's nurturing environment.

Streamlining Hearing Assessment Services

Children with Down syndrome often require regular hearing assessments to monitor their auditory health. Traditionally, Farah and her family had to visit a different center in the West Bank for these assessments. However, the Basma Centre recently introduced hearing assessment services, enabling families like Farah's to benefit from a convenient and all-inclusive experience. This development has proven to be a significant relief for Farah's mother, who appreciates the opportunity to have the assessment conducted by Farah's speech and language therapist. The integration of these services not only saves time but also ensures results that are more accurate.

Enhancing Accuracy and Consistency

Miral Sarras, one of the speech therapists at the Basma Centre, emphasizes the importance of offering speech therapy and hearing assessment as complementary services for each other. She believes that separating these two vital components can hinder the accuracy and consistency of the results. By providing both services under the same roof, the Basma Centre ensures a seamless and holistic approach to supporting children with disabilities. This integration allows for a deeper understanding of the child's needs and facilitates effective communication between the professionals involved in their care.
